Sprenger + Lang resolved this race discrimination class action in 1992 for approximately $975,000 in cash and numerous injunctive provisions. The parties agreed to a Consent Decree that was operative from 1992 through 1996. The Decree required the Commission to take affirmative steps to recruit and hire qualified minority applicants and to increase efforts to promote minorities. It further required the Commission to hire an expert to assist in developing performance appraisal systems, to train employees on discrimination issues, and to ensure consistent disciplinary treatment for all employees.
