Race Discrimination in Employment
Settled in 2001 for $3.1 million.
This race discrimination class action against FMC Corporation settled for $3.1 million and injunctive relief. A three-year Consent Decree covers a class consisting of African-American employees in the Chemical Business Groups of FMC: the Chemical Products Group, the Specialty Chemicals Group and the Agricultural Products Group. Injunctive measures required by the Consent Decree included the creation of a dispute resolution procedure, amendments to FMC's internal EEO complaint procedure, appointment of a compliance official within FMC management, modifications to FMC's career opportunity posting system, development of a career counseling program, changes to FMC's performance appraisal system, and encouragement of minority networks within FMC.
