Susan Coler

"I went into law as a second career because I wanted to make a difference in people's lives and work for justice. Sprenger + Lang's class-action cases achieve real, tangible justice, with economic results that allow our clients to move on with their lives. Our clients are terrific, and I love what I do."

Susan Coler is a partner at Sprenger + Lang and works in the Minneapolis office. She is a lead attorney in 3M and also has case responsibilities in Allstate.  She has spoken at local, regional and national legal conferences on class action and employment law issues, and co-wrote “Handling Class Actions Under the ADEA” published in the 2006 Employee Rights and Employment Policy Journal.   Lawdragon magazine has identified her as one of the 500 "Leading Litigators in America."  She is the Members Liaison for the Class and Collective Action Committee of the National Employment Lawyers Association and also serves on the Board of its Minnesota chapter.

Susan graduated summa cum laude from Mundelein College in Chicago with a B.A. degree in Music. She attended Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois, where she served on the Northwestern Law Review, worked in the Legal Clinic, and graduated in 1989 cum laude and Order of the Coif. She then served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert G. Renner in the United States District Court, District of Minnesota.

Susan started at the firm in 1991 and worked on employment discrimination class actions including cases against Northwest Airlines, Control Data Corp. and Eveleth Taconite Co. She worked at Messerli & Kramer P.A. from 1997 through 2000, where she represented individuals in personal injury and employment actions, including WARN Act class actions against employers who fail to give notice before a mass termination.  In 2001, she returned to Sprenger + Lang. Prior to her current case responsibilities, Susan was involved in the C.H. Robinson, NordicTrack and ClickShip litigations.

Susan also has a Master of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and a Master of Pastoral Studies degree from Loyola University, Chicago. Prior to her law career, she was a college teacher and administrator.
